Kat Von D Lock-it Powder Foundation and Tattoo Liner Review (Influenster Voxbox)

Kat Von D Beauty recently revamped the formula, packaging, and shade range of their classic Lock-it Powder Foundation.

I received the Kat Von D Beauty Lock-it Powder Foundation Voxbox from Influenster earlier this week in exchange for my honest review of the products that were sent to me: The Kat Von D Lock-it Powder Foundation and the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.

For those who aren’t familiar with Influenster, I’ve provided some information about the site at the bottom of this post.

Kat Von D Lock-it Powder Foundation

4 out of 5 stars

While KVD Beauty’s Lock-it Powder Foundation is nothing new, the product has recently received a makeover that includes an improved formula, an all-new broader shade range, and brand new packaging. Lock-it Powder Foundation is a full-coverage, matte formula that offers “instant blurring and extreme long wear.” The formula contains rice powder extract, which helps with blurring pores and covering imperfections, as well as kaolin — a clay mineral — that provides a matte finish and helps the product to blend into the skin.

Kat Von D Lock-it Powder Foundation Shade Range

Lock-it Powder Foundation is now available in 26 shades, whereas it was previously only available in 18. Those who used the product previously can find their new shade by using KVD Beauty’s Powder Foundation Shade Conversion Guide.

I received the foundation in shade F105 (Fair Porcelain), which is the lightest of the shade range. I’ve previously found that KVD Beauty’s shades are typically not light enough for my skin tone, but that is certainly no longer the case. In my opinion, this shade is nearly translucent and much paler than it appears on the KVD Beauty website.

The product includes an applicator sponge. After trying to apply the product using the sponge and failing miserably, I decided to try with a powder brush. I chose the Sephora PRO Featherweight Powder Brush #91 and I had much better luck. The product itself is lightweight and easily blendable and the finish is matte and reduces shine well.
The coverage is average for a powder foundation and while the Lock-it Powder Foundation does a great job of evening out skin tone, it doesn’t compare to liquid foundation when it comes to covering blemishes.

The new packaging is beautiful and intricately designed and totally on point with the brand’s image. The applicator sponge fits perfectly on top of the compact, or inside the compact for those who prefer to keep it in their purse or makeup bag. There’s also a small mirror inside the compact.

Overall, my opinion is that the Kat Von D Beauty Lock-it Powder Foundation is well formulated, and I have to give the company props for improving its shade range. While the coverage isn’t quite as full as I expected, the formula applies well with the right tools and is very blendable. The compact is small and convenient, which makes it the perfect purse-product. I’ll definitely be keeping my Lock-it Powder Foundation nearby to use for quick and easy touchups throughout the day.

Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Liner

5 out of 5 stars

KVD Beauty’s Tattoo Liner is a staple for many beauty lovers and has a solid reputation in the beauty industry. This liquid liner is smooth, silky, and easy to apply for beauty gurus and makeup newbies alike. The formula features 24-hour wear and is waterproof and transfer-resistant.

The precision tip on KVD Beauty’s tattoo liner makes it simple to achieve a variety of expert-level eyeliner looks. I’ve used Tattoo Liner to create everything from a subtle, natural look to an elaborate cat-eye with ease.

The formula dries quickly and is truly smudge-proof. Once it’s applied, it definitely stays put and lasts all day.

I’ve been a fan of the Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Liner for quite some time and today is no different. This product is truly a long-wear, waterproof, smudge-proof, transfer-proof eyeliner.
